In art club with the 3rd-5th graders, I demonstrated how to create a glue resist with hot glue, crayon, and pastel. I showed the kids how to do techniques like wet on wet and how to blend watercolors to create an ombré effect. We also experimented with salt on watercolor. The students were then set loose to use the techniques that interested them most. Some students tried all the techniques, while others focused on one or two.
The art club students got a kick out of being able to create with tons of glue this evening. We made glue suncatchers, which requires a lot of glue and drops of liquid watercolors. When they are dry, we will poke holes in them and they will be ready to hang up in the window!
The K-2 and 3-5 art clubs are starting this week. We are kicking off art club by working with clay. The K-2 art club made clay pendants this past Monday, and the 3-5 art club will be making ceramic ornaments tomorrow. We will do a variety of projects throughout the next 5 weeks. Stay tuned to see pictures of student work in the weeks ahead.
Also, for those of you that were unable to sign-up, we will try to do one more round of art club before the school year is over. |
