Recently our kindergartners learned about texture by creating visual and actual texture by painting and printing with tools, making texture rubbings, and creating texture on clay slabs. We practiced using different descriptive words for texture. The students loved describing the texture of the painted, warty pumpkin pictured below.
The students also learned about crayon resist. I explained to them how the wax in the crayon repels the watercolor wash. They especially loved to see how white crayon shows up after drawing with it and then creating a wash over it.
