This past week the kindergarten students learned how to draw a personalized self-portrait without using stick arms or stick legs. Students were asked to draw themselves with as many details as possible using marker and colored pencil. We talked about the importance of diversity and discussed what the world would be like if everyone and everything was the same. The next class they created a background for their portraits using either warm or cool colors, this helped me assess whether they understood the difference between the two after spending a few days learning about them. These also made beautiful and colorful backgrounds for their portraits.
