In third and fourth grade, students will be challenged to advance their ideas and fully utilize their critical and creative thinking skills. At this point, the students have a more defined understanding of what creativity is and why it’s important to think in new ways. Students will begin to understand some of the more complex principles of art such as unity, movement, and balance. Students will be introduced to metal embossing, scratch art, and watercolor pencils. They will learn more clay hand-building techniques that require a lot of problem-solving.
